A Husband's Journey
What you are about to read is a very tragic story about what happened to my
wife following weight loss surgery (WLS).
IN MY OPINION,
her
"post operative complications" were caused by medical neglect and
substandard medical treatment. IN MY OPINION, my wife was a
victim of discrimination because she was considered obese.
Prior to the surgery, we attended support group meetings and were told that
this could happen in this particular hospital because you are not treated as
being sick, but FAT!
This surgery was performed in a hospital in a New York Suburb. She had a
good surgeon but the care that she received in the hospital where he
operates was unacceptable.
By developing this website, I have
begun a crusade and will make it my mission to educate as many people as I
can about discrimination, medical neglect, and substandard health care.
Although my story is focused on weight
loss surgery, medical neglect and substandard health care can affect anyone.
It does not matter whether the surgery is elective or life saving. It
doesn't matter what type surgery it is.
For those of you
who read this, I am asking your support in sharing this story with everyone
you know. Please use it as a tool to educate yourselves and enhance your
awareness. At the time of this
writing, I was 41 and my wife was 50. We were married in 1999. I believe in
God and believe that something good will come from all of this.
